RSNA’s New Global Learning Centers Seek to Improve Radiology Education Around the World

RSNA partnering with established radiology departments in low- or middle-income countries

RSNA is accepting applications from eligible host countries for a new RSNA initiative — Global Learning Centers (GLC) — designed to expand radiology education opportunities around the world.

RSNA is seeking to partner with established radiology departments based in low- or middle-income countries to create a GLC and improve its department through education.

In addition, RSNA is seeking applications from RSNA volunteers to work as a team with the radiology department at the first Global Learning Center, which is expected to open in 2020.

Over a three-year period, the team of RSNA members, headed by an RSNA Program Director, will work with the GLC to develop a customized educational plan including a curriculum with hands-on training, didactic lectures (virtual and in-person), conferences, online courses and other educational offerings. The program will also offer radiologic and technical equipment assistance.

The RSNA team will include up to four RSNA volunteers to serve a one-year term. One of the volunteers will be appointed as RSNA Program Director, who will serve a term of three years.

GLC applicant institutions must be a university or hospital, located in eligible countries, demonstrate a need for radiology education and resources and have an established radiology department. Applicant institutions must also have a team lead with English fluency who will serve as the primary contact.

All applicants for RSNA teams must be RSNA members in good standing, have previous experience working in low- to middle-income countries and be experts in their field/subspecialty. To be considered for RSNA Program Director, applicants must also have five years (or more) teaching experience. Applications for GLC teams will be accepted on an ongoing basis.

Applications for host countries and RSNA team members are available at RSNA.org/GLC. The deadline for submitting applications for host countries is Nov. 1, 2019.
