RSNA Journal Impact Factors Climb
All RSNA journals have increased their Journal Impact Factors from 2023 and are ranked in the top 25% in imaging-specific categories
RSNA announced the 2024 Journal Impact Factors for its suite of journals. All RSNA journals have increased their Journal Impact Factors from 2023 and are ranked in the top 25% in the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Medical Imaging Category, according to the Clarivate Analytics Journal Citation Reports.
Journal Impact Factor uses citation data to measure the relevance and influence of academic journals. RSNA’s flagship journal, Radiology, was cited more than 60,000 times in 2024, and Radiology: Artificial Intelligence greatly expanded its impact, further cementing RSNA’s reputation as a leader in AI research and the practical and ethical application of AI in medical imaging.

The Society publishes five established peer-reviewed journals: Radiology, RadioGraphics, Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging and Radiology: Imaging Cancer. Radiology Advances, RSNA’s first exclusively open-access journal—published in partnership with Oxford University Press—launched in 2024.

Radiology has a Journal Impact Factor of 15.2, an increase of more than 3 points over its 2023 Journal Impact Factor of 12.1. Edited by Linda Moy, MD, Radiology was cited 60,450 times and ranks first in Journal Citation Indicator and Journal Impact Factor among 212 journals in the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging category.
Published regularly since 1923, Radiology has long been recognized as the authoritative reference for the most current, clinically relevant and highest quality research in the field of radiology. Each month, the journal publishes peer-reviewed original research, authoritative reviews and expert opinion on new techniques and technologies.
Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, edited by Charles E. Kahn Jr., MD, excelled in 2024, with a Journal Impact Factor of 13.2, a significant leap over its 2023 Journal Impact Factor of 8.1. The journal had 3,232 citations, placing it third among 212 journals in the Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Medical Imaging category. Radiology: Artificial Intelligence, which debuted in 2019, highlights the emerging applications of machine learning and artificial intelligence in the field of imaging across multiple disciplines.
Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging, edited by Suhny Abbara, MD, continues to grow with a Journal Impact Factor of 4.2 and 1,380 citations. The journal, introduced in 2019, emphasizes new research and technical developments in imaging that drive cardiothoracic medicine and serves as an invaluable resource for healthcare professionals, providing them with the latest advances, clinical guidelines and evidence-based insights necessary for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
Radiology: Imaging Cancer, edited by Gary D. Luker, MD, is expanding its influence with a Journal Impact Factor of 6.3 and 713 citations. Launched in 2019, the journal focuses on screening, differential diagnosis and treatment planning across imaging subspecialties, organ systems and modalities and presents an interdisciplinary perspective on cancer imaging.
RadioGraphics, RSNA’s premier educational journal, edited by Christine Cooky Menias, MD, also showed gains in 2024 with a Journal Impact Factor of 5.5 and 15,431 citations. The popular journal has doubled its Journal Impact Factor since 2015.
Launched in 1981, RadioGraphics is one of the leading education journals in diagnostic radiology. Each bimonthly issue features practice-focused articles spanning the full spectrum of radiologic subspecialties. With an emphasis on education presented at RSNA’s annual meeting, RadioGraphics’ primary mission is to publish the best in peer-reviewed educational material for radiologists, trainees, physicists and other radiology professionals.
