RSNA 2026 Gold Medalist
Bruce G. Haffty, MD
Past RSNA president and a nationally recognized proponent of radiation oncology programs, Bruce G. Haffty, MD, is associate vice chancellor for cancer programs at Rutgers Biomedical Health Sciences, New Brunswick, NJ.
He is also a professor of Radiation Oncology at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Jersey Medical School. He was recently appointed as the part-time chief medical officer of Radiation Oncology Research for the American College of Radiology.

Dr. Haffty has a long and successful record in clinical and translational research in radiation oncology. He is currently co-investigator on several national clinical trials. He has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles, 30 book chapters and numerous editorials and letters. He previously served as deputy editor of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
In addition to his term as RSNA president, Dr. Haffty served as chair of the RSNA Board of Directors and was named RSNA Outstanding Educator in 2013. He is a current member of the R&E Foundation Board of Trustees and an active supporter to the Foundation.
He is a past president of the American Radium Society (ARS) and the American Board of Radiology. He also is a former president and chair of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). Dr. Haffty served as the founding president of the Association of Directors of Radiation Oncology Programs.
He is the 2020 recipient of ASTRO’s Gold Medal and the 2024 recipient of the ARS Gold Medal. He is an honorary member of the European Society of Radiology and the Spanish Society of Radiology.
