RSNA 2026 Vibe Coding Hackathon
Have an idea for an app, workflow or tool that could improve radiology?
Join the inaugural RSNA Vibe Coding Hackathon taking place Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 during RSNA 2026 to discover how the latest AI-powered coding tools can help turn your ideas into working prototypes.
Whether you are an experienced software developer or have never written code before, modern AI coding assistants make it possible to build solutions using your expertise and creativity.
What Is Vibe Coding?
Vibe coding is a new approach to software development that uses AI coding agents to help transform ideas into applications. Instead of focusing on programming syntax, participants can focus on defining problems, designing solutions and testing new concepts.
Who Should Participate?
We welcome you to work individually or form a team with fellow imaging professionals:
- Radiologists
- Trainees and students
- Researchers
- Informatics professionals
- Data scientists
- Software developers
- Anyone interested in solving problems in medical imaging
No advanced programming experience is required. If you understand the challenges facing radiology, you have something valuable to contribute.
What You'll Build
The goal of the hackathon is to create innovative solutions that address real-world needs in radiology and medical imaging. By the end of the event, you or your team will have the opportunity to transform a concept into a functional prototype.
Participants will have access to:
- Sample datasets and resources provided by RSNA
- Mentorship by domain experts
- Guidance on available development tools
- Opportunities to connect with like-minded innovators
- A collaborative environment focused on experimentation and learning
Recognition
Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on innovation, impact, usability and execution. Top solutions will be announced during a special event on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
Join the Hackathon
To prepare, bring your favorite AI coding tool of your choice. If you do not have a specific idea yet, come ready to collaborate with others and tackle meaningful challenges facing the imaging community.
Hackathon Schedule
Following optional office hours, networking and technical setup on Sunday, Nov. 29, the hackathon officially kicks off on Monday, Nov. 30. Teams then spend two days developing solutions with support from mentor office hours before submitting projects on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
