Since its inception in 1984, the Research & Education Foundation has awarded $34 million in grant funding for nearly 900 young investigators. The real value, however, is far greater—surveys show that for every $1 granted by the Foundation, recipients have received over 30 additional dollars in subsequent funding from other sources, such as the NIH, NIBIB, and NCI. In the final analysis, $34 million for jump-start grants to young investigators has resulted in $1 billion in funding for radiology research and education.
