RSNA 3D Special Interest Group Symposium (4-hour session)

3D printing in medicine is the intersection of multiple medical and non-medical specialties including radiologists, radiological technologists, engineers, physicists and surgeons/interventionalists. Medical 3D printing has shown benefit and improved outcomes in the management of craniomaxillofacial, cardiac and musculoskeletal pathologies, among others.  This educational offering will cover best practices for medical 3D printing at the point-of-care and will allow better understanding and utilization of 3D printing services.

In this course, the many different aspects of 3D printing in hospitals will be described including quality assurance processes that address image acquisition, processing and printing, material selection and surgical planning by organ system. Finally, a discussion on clinical appropriateness, documentation in the medical record, and reimbursement will ensure that these efforts are sustainable.

Event details

The RSNA 3D Symposium will take place Dec. 5 from 12 to 4 p.m. CT in room E350 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

The symposium has limited seating and will be held for RSNA 2024 registered attendees only. Submitting your symposium reservation below does not register you for RSNA 2024—you will need to register separately.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session the attendees will:
  • Appraise reimbursement strategies in the utilization of category III 3D printing CPT codes.
  • Adopt business management tactics in 3D printing at the point of care.
  • Develop a workflow to determine the optimal immersive imaging technology in accordance to clinical scenarios and indication of use.
  • Engage in discussion of services provided by in-hospital 3D printing operations of various sizes and resources to encourage mentorship and foster collaboration.
This course is designed for radiologists, radiology technologists, medical physicists, imaging scientists, engineers, surgeons, allied health personnel and trainees.
