COVID-19 Resources

RSNA is committed to connecting radiologists and the radiology community to the most timely and useful COVID-19 information and resources.

RSNA has established two COVID-19 volunteer task forces to equip radiologists around the world with the tools they need to navigate the COVID-19 outbreak. Learn more

Join the conversation. RSNA has created an online community specifically for COVID-19 discussions. Here you can ask questions, share ideas, get peer-to-peer support and discover lessons learned. COVID-19 Imaging Data Sets and Imaging Data Repository

Since early in the COVID-19 pandemic, RSNA has been a global leader in providing resources and imaging references to inform radiologists throughout the world on COVID-19.

RSNA recently announced a new initiative to create an open COVID-19 Imaging Data Repository. As part of this initiative we distributed a survey to assess the radiology community’s interest and ability to share their COVID-19 imaging data for the purpose of education and research. We thank everyone who completed the survey. The strong positive reaction—more than 180 respondents from around the globe—speaks to the desire of the radiology community to support research on using medical imaging to screen for, diagnose and treat COVID-19.

RSNA is rapidly exploring partnerships to advance the launch of an RSNA Covid-19 AI Imaging Data Repository. This effort, while led by RSNA, is orchestrated by an international task force of scientists and radiologists. It is coordinated with complementary COVID-19 data sharing efforts in Europe and other international radiology societies. RSNA gratefully acknowledges the support of the following societies in helping to bring global imaging data to the repository.

  • Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSR)
  • Japan Radiological Society (JRS)
  • Federación Argentina de Asociaciones de Radiología, Diagnóstico por Imágenes y Terapia Radiante (FAARDIT)
  • Sociedad Argentina de Radiología (SAR)
  • Sociedad Chilena de Radiología (SOCHRADI)
  • Sociedade Paulista de Radiología (SPR)

This repository will build on collections of imaging data that RSNA has already assembled to support imaging research, including AI challenge competitions that accelerate the application of artificial intelligence in radiology. In fact, the datasets assembled for the 2018 Pneumonia Detection Challenge offer a substantial set of chest X-rays annotated for the presence of other community-acquired pneumonias.

In the coming weeks, we will provide respondents with agreements, tools and instructions on how to submit data in accord with regulations and best practices, as well as patient security and privacy concerns. We welcome your questions and suggestions, which can be sent to informatics@rsna.org
