Session Title: Exploring the Future of Imaging: RSNA R&E Foundation Awardees on AI Innovation
Date & Time: Sunday, Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. CT
Location: S406B
During this session, Foundation awardees will present their study results, showcasing innovative and high-impact research supported by donor contributions. Attendees will also gain insights into the diverse applications of AI in imaging—from algorithm development to clinical deployment—and learn how today’s funded ideas are shaping tomorrow’s breakthroughs.
Featured Panelist: Wenhui Zhou, MD, PhD
We are proud to highlight Wenhui Zhou, MD, PhD, one of the Foundation’s grant recipients, whose research demonstrates the power of AI in transforming breast cancer diagnostics. Dr. Zhou’s study, Prediction of Occult Invasive Breast Cancer in Women with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ Using Multitask Deep Learning, addresses a critical challenge in the personalized care for early-stage breast cancer patients.
Approximately 20% of patients diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) are later found to have invasive breast cancer that eludes current diagnostic methods. Dr. Zhou’s research aims to develop a personalized risk assessment using multiparametric MRI and clinicopathological data to better predict invasive disease. This data-driven approach could revolutionize risk-adaptive treatment strategies and reduce both overtreatment and undertreatment in DCIS management.
This session offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from researchers like Dr. Zhou, whose work is not only advancing science but also improving lives.
