Receiving, Then Giving: See How Generosity and Support Comes Full Circle
It is always inspiring to see the generosity of RSNA members who support the R&E Foundation. One group of donors has a special place in our hearts - RSNA R&E Foundation Grant Recipient Donors. They know first-hand what it means to receive an R&E Grant and how life-changing, career-changing and radiologically advancing these grants can be. Many of them now generously pay this gift forward by supporting the Foundation.
Hear first-hand from several grant recipients about the impact of an RSNA R&E Foundation grant.

“R&E Foundation grants are great for our specialty, and I have a personal debt as well. I received an R&E Research Fellow Grant at the end of residency that was pivotal for my career. It helped me get protected time, with the support of my chair at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Ronald “Ron” G. Evens, MD, and it was a great first step into grant-writing. Through this support, I also gained an incredibly generous and effective mentor, William “Bill” J. Powers, MD. I am so grateful to the RSNA R&E Foundation for my early career support and I wanted to help create more opportunities for future junior faculty to have the same experience.”
~ Colin P. Derdeyn, MD, R&E Foundation Presidents Circle Donor and 1994 Siemens Medical Solutions/RSNA Research Fellow Grant Recipient

"The reason why I became an RSNA R&E Foundation Presidents Circle donor is because I myself have benefitted from grants. These grants are essential in supporting research for young faculty members both in terms of support for materials and protected time. The purpose of these investigations that we do (both researchers and clinician scientists) is to forward the knowledge in our field so that we can ultimately provide better patient care. This grant has allowed me to publish multiple papers, present at national presentations and move my career forward, but more importantly it has provided me with the protected time, and again, the material support to accomplish these goals. I want to thank the donors and the R&E Foundation for making this possible for young radiologists."

"[Receiving the 2001 Philips/RSNA Research Seed Grant] this stage in my career gave me some footing, a little bit of academic credibility, and very importantly, a kind of laid foundation for what I wanted to do as an academic radiologist… Thank you, Philips and the RSNA R&E Foundation for getting me started in my career and I wish nothing but the best for this program on board."
~ C. Douglas Phillips, MD, R&E Foundation Presidents Circle Donor and 2001 Philips/RSNA Research Seed Grant Recipient

"I'd like to thank Philips and the RSNA R&E Foundation for my 2008 Education Scholar Grant. The grant allowed me to make a 31-video course on the business of radiology, which many radiology residency programs now use, as well as some private practitioners who want to learn a little bit more about the business of radiology. The grant also helped launch a new part of my career as far as my business administration information from my MBA degree and it also allowed me to teach an area of radiology that many people do not understand very well. I am very grateful that this grant support enabled the creation of the course curriculum. Thank you very much!"
