Go to the RadLex Term BrowserUsing the Tree
The RadLex Tree provides a visual representation of the relationships of RadLex. The tree will begin with one parent ("Radlex Term"), and list below and to the right all the children of that parent, based upon the currently selected Relation Type. If a term has child terms, you will see a plus or minus button to the left of the term. The a term has no children, it will have an empty space to the left of the term. Be adviced that when you click on a link, the computer is most likely doing work and will return a result with a second or two.
To view details about a certain term, click on the name of that term in the tree. The Term Viewer will be populated with that term. If you wish to expand the tree and see the children of a term, you can click on the plus sign to the left of the term or you can click on the term itself.
If you wish to collapse part of the tree, click the minus sign to the left of the term.
The Tree only shows the links between parents and children based upon the currently selected Relation Type. If there are other possible relationships, they are available in the drop down menu. Selecting a different relationship will cause a new tree to be generated, with the currently selected term as the Root term. This new tree shows all children of the selected relation type with the Root term as the parent. To change back to the default tree, you can select the 'Preferred' relation type or click the Restore Root button (the circle with an X through it).
To change the root of the tree, select the term you wish to be the root by clicking on that term name in the tree, then clicking the Make Root (the circle button) button. This will allow you to see a subset of the tree. To undo Make Root, click the Restore Root button (the circle with an X through it).
Using the Term Viewer
If you wish to view a term, click on that term in the tree or search for that term. The Term Viewer will be populated with the details about that term. Any relationships that term has with any other term in RadLex will be enumerated. The "Parents" sections lists all the terms which the current term is a child of. The "Children" section lists all the terms which are children of the current term. Clicking on any of the underline terms will take you to details about that term.
To navigate backwards or forwards in history between the terms in the Term Viewer, use the back and forward buttons.
Using the Search
Enter a search term (a Radlex ID or a name of a term), and click the search button or hit enter. A box will open image and display any matching terms. Clicking on a term will bring that term into the Term Viewer and focus that term in the Tree.
Using the Clipboard
In order to provide a linkage for future versions of the MIRC authoring tool, a clipboard is provided to keep a list of terms (in XML) for use in the MIRC tool.
API
The XML used for this site can be obtained via the RadLex API.
Known Issues
- The browser's back and forth button may not act as users are used to, therefore the user should use the back and forth buttons above the tree browser.
- The servlet has been tested thoroughly on Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0. If you experience problems, it is suggested that you first try one of these browsers.
