Special Reports are manuscripts on a topic of interest, with some original data but not a full scientific study. These are submitted as Original Research reports, but in your cover letter to the editor, specify the manuscript as a Special Report. Maximums: structured abstract, 250 words; word count from Introduction through Discussion, 3000 words; number of references, 35; number of figure parts, eight; number of tables, four.
