SITE

Some things you WON'T find on RSNA.org

We hope you won't spend a long time in search of features that aren't here, such as:

  • medical information for patients (available at the ACR/RSNA site Radiology Info)
  • marketing information about the practice of radiology (number and addresses of imaging centers in North America, for example)
  • e-mail or postal addresses of RSNA members
(General RSNA e-mail addresses are listed on the Contact page, accessible through the dropdown menu under the About RSNA navigation button at left.) RSNA members can search for other RSNA members by logging in at Member's LOGIN
  • chapter listings (RSNA has no chapters)
  • guidelines for authors
RSNA Journals Online has publication information for authors:
  • state or federal regulations
  • career guidance (See the Careers page on RadiologyInfo.)
  • career background (salary ranges, employment prospects, etc). See Career Connection for job openings and resumes.
  • background on medical, nursing, or technical schools (such as lists or curricula of medical schools in a geographic area)
  • background on diseases or other abnormalities (this is often best researched in medical libraries and on other Web sites)
  • medical advice, recommendations, or guidance (see "Terms of Use")
  • collections of radiologic images (Some are accessible through the Medical Imaging Resource Center. Patients and their relatives might visit the Image Gallery on RadiologyInfo.)
  • comparisons of imaging modalities (Patients and their families might explore RadiologyInfo.)
  • product information
(RSNA Buyers Guide and the Exhibitor List has product categories and contact information for companies that exhibit at the RSNA annual meeting and scientific assembly.)
  • chat rooms
  • medical or epidemiologic statistics
  • surveys
  • software for image manipulation or statistical analysis (DICOM software is available by FTP at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. MIRC software for creation and distribution of teaching files is available at the MIRC site.)

How can I contact the Webmaster?

RSNA sponsors several Web sites.

For RSNA.org (this site) and RSNA.org Onsite (a companion site with resources for the RSNA scientific assembly and annual meeting), send e-mail to webmaster@rsna.org. You can also use the RSNA.org feedback form.

Journals
For general inquiries about RSNA Journals Online, contact asimonaitis@rsna.org. For feedback on Radiology Online, please use the Radiology Online fillout form. For feedback on RadioGraphics Online, please use the RadioGraphics Online fillout form.

Patients
For Radiology Info (a patient-oriented site sponsored by the American College of Radiology and RSNA), contact webmast2@rsna.org.

How often is this site updated?

Some pages, such as classified advertisements, are updated several times a week. A new issue of RSNA News appears onsite every month. New materials are added to the annual meeting site periodically throughout the year. Committee listings in "Who's Who" are updated at least once a year. Announcements of CME and other meetings are posted throughout the year in an interactive calendar.

RSNA is a nonprofit organization, so why does RSNA.org have advertisements?

Membership dues and subscription fees do not pay all the costs of running an active medical society. Many nonprofit organizations, including RSNA, have run advertisements in their media for many years, because advertising revenue helps to defray operating expenses.

How many people visit this site?

On average, RSNA.org receives 1,400,000 hits (file requests, excluding graphics) per month and provides 794,000 page views and 198,000 user sessions per month. After the annual meeting, usage is somewhat lower; it begins to increase with the approach of the April 15 deadline for submission of abstracts and distribution of the Exhibitor Prospectus and Advance Registration brochures in spring. Potential advertisers are encouraged to contact RSNA Advertising for recent statistics.

Where are your fellowship listings?

RSNA.org has a variety of these:

  • RSNA members can access COS Funding Opportunities, a comprehensive database that lists more than 400,000 funding opportunities (over $33 billion in grants and awards), and COS Funding Alert, a weekly e-mail notification that contains a customized list of funding opportunities based on specific criteria pre-set by the individual user. For details, click here.
  • The "Fellowship and Residency Resources" page links to fellowships sponsored by universities in North America. These fellowships are typically longer than 1 or 2 weeks.
  • Fellowships are advertised on the RSNA Career Connection.

GENERAL

How many imaging centers are there in the United States, and how many specialize in MR imaging?

RSNA does not collect or distribute marketing or other business statistics on medical practices, procedures, or imaging centers. One of the societies listed on our "Radiologic Organizations" menu may have the information you seek, although many of those societies do not collect marketing statistics.

What are the career prospects in radiology? I'm a student and I need this information for a class report.

An organization for radiologists and other professionals in the radiologic sciences, RSNA has a mission of education, publication, research, and advocacy but cannot provide career guidance. For specific information you might contact medical professionals in your community or a librarian at the medical school of a college or university near you.

EDUCATION CENTER

If you cannot find an answer to your question in this section, please call the Education Center at 1-800-272-2920, 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday, except holidays.

I cannot login.

To login you will need to enter your RSNA Member ID or Customer ID. Your last name is your default password.

Where can I find my RSNA member ID?

Your member ID number is printed on:

  • your membership card
  • your dues renewal statement, and
  • the mailing label from your issue of RadioGraphicsor Radiology

Why do I get an invalid password message when I try to login?

Your default password is your full last name (in exactly the same form as you submitted it to the RSNA). If you have tried that and you continue to get an invalid password message, please call for assistance with your password.

I enter my Member (Customer) ID in and I get an invalid Member (Customer) ID message. I have confirmed that the number is correct.

When entering in your Member ID or Customer ID you also must enter the zeros in front of the number for a total of eight digits. If you have changed your ID to a different user name you must use that user name.

Can I print my CME credits after I take the test?

After you pass a test (80% score or better), you must click on the link that says Click here to Claim CME Credits. This will display your certificate as well as transfer the credits into the CME Credit Repository.

How do I know what subspecialty my CME credits are from, e.g. breast, and ultrasound?

The RSNA has developed a series of Content Codes that are two-letter codes to tell the user which subspecialty the credit is valid in.

How can I select specific credits for display?

The CME Credit Repository has a search function that allows you to sort your credits by a date range, credit type, and/or specific meeting(s)/activity(activities).

Why can't I view my credits earned before 1999 in the CME Credit Repository?

The RSNA is only displaying CME credits earned from 1999 to the present. The RSNA has on file all credits earned from 1996 to the present. If you need to request a copy of a certificate, please call.

When I request my password be sent to me, I never receive a response.

When you request a password, the system attempts to match your email address with those addresses in our database. If you have changed your email address and have not updated it with the RSNA, then there will be no email address that matches your current email address.

Only some of my CME credits are appearing in the CME Credit Repository.

On September 20, 2001, InteractED was closed to the public and offered to members and non-members who purchased programs. Many users inadvertently created multiple accounts. Please call with any questions regarding missing CME credits.

PATIENTS

A relative of mine has a disease or other abnormality, and we need information. Where can I find help?

As noted on the site disclaimer, RSNA cannot provide medical advice or research services. Here are some online resources to try:

  • Radiology Info, the ACR/RSNA public-information site, describes radiologic examinations such as mammography, magnetic resonance, and computed tomography in lay terms.
  • The "Radiology Organizations" area of RSNA.org lists other societies in the radiologic sciences that may have information pertinent to your questions.
  • Entrez-PubMed: "Entrez is a search and retrieval system that integrates information from databases at NCBI [National Center for Biotechnology Information]. These databases include nucleotide sequences, protein sequences, macromolecular structures, whole genomes, and MEDLINE, through PubMed." It contains abstracts of articles published in peer-reviewed medical journals indexed by the National Library of Medicine.

For specific questions not addressed by the previous answers, you may need to contact a librarian at the library of a medical school or school of public health at a local college or university.
