The resident is confused and disturbed by the program director’s behavior. She would like his recommendation for fellowships and would like to participate in a research project, yet the series of events makes her now feel uncomfortable in the program director’s presence, and she seeks the advice of a senior female faculty member.
Question 2: As the faculty member, what would you advise the resident to do?
Be careful as she proceeds, as the law may not agree that any form of sexual harassment has taken place.
Refuse to return to work until the program director has issued an apology.
Meet with the program director alone for dinner again and discuss her concerns, saying she would still like to work with him and have him mentor her.
Go directly to the EEOC, and file a complaint.
