The purpose of the CMIW is to develop an overarching vision for functional/molecular imaging, in order to

1. Increase awareness of the future of imaging in the imaging community
2. Develop tools to begin to prepare current generations of graduates for that future
3. Consider the implications for future activities of participating societies
4. Develop a collaborative framework among those involved.
