RSNA Tier Pricing

Dear Librarians-

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) would like to introduced its new pricing system in July 2008. RSNA’s pricing approach responds to the evolving publishing market and changing needs of our users. The tier pricing model was created to better fit the needs of our academic, hospital, and corporate subscribing libraries by allowing smaller institutions access at a lower cost and granting larger institutions increased usage rights for their extensive user base.

RSNA has been dedicated to creating a pricing model based on the feedback of our institutional users. To help us meet your needs, we created the Radiology Library Advisory Board (RLAB) in early 2007. Board members were invited from academic, corporate, and hospital libraries to ensure a variety of institutional librarians were represented in the pricing reform process.

As RSNA launches this new journal pricing model for Radiology and RadioGraphics we would like to reinforce our effort to establish this change as a joint venture. Although the costs of publishing are increasing and your budgets are fluctuating, together we must maintain our common goal of disseminating to your end users the best radiologic science and education.

Tiers Explained

Academic Tiers

http://www.carnegiefoundation.org/dynamic/downloads/file_1_618.xls

The RSNA academic tiers are based on the basic Carnegie Classifications. In 2005 Carnegie published updated classifications, based on research level, for all domestic academic institutions. If you are having trouble locating your institution or have concerns about your classification, please contact us.

Hospital Tiers

RSNA’s hospital tier system is based on the number of staffed hospital beds published in the American Hospital Association’s Guide or the current number published by each hospital.
