Figure 9: Primary CNS lymphoma in a 55-year-old woman with intermittent speech difficulty and headaches. Panel A, Panel B Axial proton-density-weighted (A) and T2-weighted (B) MR images show a hypointense interhemispheric mass (m) separated bilaterally from brain parenchyma by an extremely hypointense line (arrows in A). An adjacent area of hyperintensity, seen along the posterior right aspect of the mass and extending to the cortex, may represent a focal area of infarction. Panel C Sagittal T1-weighted MR image shows diffuse isointensity of the mass (m) overlying the cortex of the brain (arrows), which is displaced inferiorly. Panel D, Panel E Axial (D) and coronal (E) contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MR images show intense enhancement of the mass (m) and its asymmetric (right greater than left) lateral extensions over the convexity. Specimen from the mass obtained at open biopsy contained sheets of B lymphocytes, consistent with a low-grade lymphoma.
