Primary CNS lymphoma in a 72-year-old man with worsening dementia. Panel A Unenhanced axial CT scan shows a slightly hyperattenuated mass (arrows) with surrounding white matter edema and mass effect in the left temporoparietal region. Panel B Contrast-enhanced axial CT scan shows intense enhancement of the mass (arrow). Panel C Photograph of axial slices of the autopsy specimen shows a large left temporoparietal mass with hemorrhagic and partially necrotic areas (brownish discoloration). The mass is surrounded by edema (note white matter enlargement) (arrow). At histologic analysis, infiltration of the cortex by a uniform infiltrate of large malignant cells was seen, a finding consistent with a primary large cell lymphoma.
