Figure 17: Primary CNS lymphoma in a 61-year-old woman with slurred speech and numbness of the right side of her face and right arm. Panel A Frontal radiograph of the skull shows diffuse thickening of the left side of the skull with a convex focal opacity (arrow). Panel B, Panel C Unenhanced (B) and contrast-enhanced (C) axial CT scans show a high-attenuation extraaxial mass (arrow) in the left frontal region with surrounding low attenuation indicative of edema. There is intense enhancement of the mass with contrast material on c. These features are highly characteristic of a meningioma. Panel D Photograph of the surgical specimen obtained after craniotomy reveals a yellowish mass arising from and completely replacing the dura mater. The mass had an extensive vascular supply from the middle meningeal artery, with extension into the adjacent inner table and, to a lesser extent, into the brain parenchyma. Histologic findings were consistent with those of lymphoma. Scale is in centimeters.
