Figure 16: Paratesticular rhabdomyosarcoma in a 10-year-old boy with a large, nontender, scrotal mass that had enlarged over the preceding month. Panel A Axial proton-density-weighted (3,400/21) MR image shows a very large, lobulated, heterogeneous left scrotal mass containing internal septa (black arrow). The mass has slightly higher signal intensity than that of the adjacent right testis (white arrow). The left testis is not identified as a separate structure. Panel B Sequential dynamic gradient-echo (33/5, 80° flip angle) MR images obtained during administration of gadopentetate dimeglumine demonstrate pronounced heterogeneous enhancement of the mass, which is supplied by an hypertrophied external pudendal artery (arrow). Panel C Photograph of the surgical specimen shows a well-circumscribed, homogeneous, solid tumor with a lobulated cut surface, invested by tunica vaginalis (arrows).
