Figure 17: Leiomyoma. Photomicrograph (original magnification, X25; hematoxylin-eosin stain) shows the various components of the tumor on the surface of the kidney. Most of the tumor is composed of smooth muscle cells, but a few small areas of fat (straight arrows) are also seen. Although the lesion is well circumscribed, there is no true capsule (curved arrows) and it abuts directly against the renal tubules.
