Figure 7: GCT of the thoracic spine (T-3 and T-4) in a 28-year-old woman with an 8-month history of worsening pain in her left shoulder. (A and B) Sagittal and axial T1-weighted MR images obtained before Panel A and after Panel B administration of gadopentetate dimeglumine reveal a large expansile lesion of the T-4 vertebral body (arrows), with extension into the posterior elements of T-3 and T-4 and the posterior soft tissues (arrowheads). The lesion enhances markedly with the contrast agent. Panel C On a sagittal T2-weighted fast spin-echo MR image, the lesion has only intermediate signal intensity, which likely is related to prominent fibrosis seen histologically (not shown). Panel D Intraoperative photograph obtained after incision of the skin shows a bulging, solid paraspinal mass (*).
