Figure 19: Portal hypertension in a 16-year-old boy with CF. Panel A Contrast-enhanced CT scan of the abdomen depicts a heterogeneous liver with a lobulated surface contour and a large splenorenal collateral vein (arrow). The spleen was previously removed. Panel B Double-contrast esoph-agram (left posterior oblique projection) demonstrates multiple serpiginous submucosal filling defects (arrow), consistent with varices. Note the metallic coils from previous embolization therapy for bronchial artery hemorrhage.
