Figure 22: Chest wall invasion in a 65-year-old man with MPM. Contrast-enhanced CT scan (mediastinal window) shows marked reduction in the size of the right hemithorax caused by circumferential tumor growth along the pleura. The tumor extends through the right anterior chest wall, creating a large soft-tissue mass beneath the pectoral muscle and infiltrating the muscle itself. Enlarged right axillary nodes (arrows) with central areas of decreased attenuation indicate lymphatic spread of MPM, which was proved by means of biopsy.
