Panel A High-power photomicrograph (original magnification, X100; H-E stain) of a pleural plaque shows a hypocellular lesion with bands of collagen organized in a typical basket weave configuration. Panel B Photograph of a gross specimen of a pleural plaque located on the diaphragmatic pleura over the central tendinous portion of the diaphragm shows the white, raised, well-defined appearance of the typical lesion.
