Complete hydatidiform mole and bilateral theca lutein cysts in a 19-year-old woman (gravida 2, para 1) with
nausea, vomiting, and vaginal bleeding. Physical examination at approximately 16 weeks gestation revealed a uterus larger than expected for dates; beta-hCG level was 1,078,000 mIU/mL (1,078,000 IU/L). Panel A Longitudinal sonogram of the uterus shows an eccentric
mass with numerous small anechoic spaces. Panel B Transverse sonogram of the uterus shows the eccentric mass, central fluid, and a large multiloculated left ovarian mass. Panel C Suction curettage specimen shows numerous vesicles representing hydropic villi.
