Panel B
Figure 15:
Choriocarcinoma in a 26-year-old
woman. Panel A Axial gadolinium-enhanced T1-weighted MR image shows a large left-sided lesion and a smaller right-sided focus (curved arrow), both with high signal
intensity. The large lesion has a thin low-signal-intensity rim (straight arrows), suggesting the possibility of subacute hemorrhage. Panel B Axial T2-weighted image
obtained at a slightly different level (the right-sided lesion is not seen) accentuates the low-signal-intensity rim ("blooming"; arrows), a finding caused by the paramagnetic effect of the hemosiderin deposition.
