Figure 10:
Invasive mole in a 29-year-old woman (gravida 4, para 2) with a first-trimester pregnancy complicated by a complete hydatidiform mole. Panel A Sonogram obtained at approximately 7 weeks gestation shows an enlarged uterus with a heterogeneous central mass and no evidence of a living embryo. Elevation of beta-hCG levels prompted an MR imaging examination 2 months later. Panel B Sagittal T2-weighted (2,000/80) image shows abnormal signal intensity within the myometrium (arrow). Panel C Axial proton density-weighted (2,000/40) image helps confirm extension into the myometrium (arrows). Panel D Cut section shows the mass with invasion into the myometrium.
