Figure 14: Massive teratoma of the neck in a newborn girl. Panel A Sagittal T1-weighted MR image shows a large, heterogeneous mass extending posteriorly to the spine and incorporating the trachea and esophagus (the tubular signal void represents an endotracheal tube). Panel B On the coronal T1-weighted MR image, the mass is almost the same size as the baby's head. The mass has no significant regions of T1 shortening, which would be suggestive of fatty or sebaceous lipid components; however, it is surrounded by a rim of subcutaneous fat.
