Figure 16:
Klippel-Trnaunay-Weber syndrome in a 37-year-old woman with an extensive, cutaneous capillary hemangioma and varicose veins. Panel A Pelvic radiograph shows atrophy of bone on the left with chronic hip dislocation and soft-tissue hypertrophy. Panel B Coronal T1-weighted MR image reveals extensive angiomatous lesions (small arrowheads) of both deep and superficial tissues and fat overgrowth (large arrowheads). Panel C Coronal T2-weighted MR image shows areas of both slow (small arrows) and rapid (large arrows) blood flow. Atrophy of bone was due to below-the-knee amputation required at birth to reduce vascular effects of a lower extremity lesion. Soft-tissue hypertrophy was caused by infiltration of the tissues by the angiomatous lesions.
