Figure 15: Maffucci syndrome in a 21-year-old woman. Panel A Radiograph of the hand shows multiple enchondromas (arrows). Panel B Lateral radiograph of the foot reveals a soft-tissue mass (large arrowheads) with a phlebolith (small arrowhead), characteristic of a hemangioma. Panel C Photograph of the gross sectioned specimen of the foot lesion shows cavernous vascular spaces (*). Although at histologic examination cavernous lesions were seen, other regions had undergone malignant degeneration to malignant hemangioendothelioma.
