Panel A High-power photomicrograph (original magnification, X200; H-E stain) of a sarcoid granuloma in the pulmonary interstitium shows the lymphocytes (straight arrows) and multinucleated giant cells (curved arrows). Panel B High-power photomicrograph (original magnification, X100; H-E stain) of a lung biopsy specimen demonstrates interstitial fibrosis secondary to sarcoidosis. Note that the fibrous tissue has a nodular morphology reminiscent of the earlier granuloma.
