Local extension of carcinoma. CT scans show extension of disease into the second portion of the duodenum (arrow in Panel A) and into the anterior abdominal wall (arrow in Panel B). The thin linear areas of high attenuation within the pericolic fat represent local extension of disease; however, similar findings, if isolated, may be seen without tumor invasion and represent a reactive inflammatory response to the tumor mass.
