Panel A Transrectal sonogram demonstrates extension of the hypoechoic tumor into and through the muscularis propria (white arrow). Well-circumscribed hypoechoic lymph nodes, regardless of size, are interpreted as indicative of metastatic disease (black arrows). Panel B Photograph of the resected gross specimen shows the firm white tumor extending through the muscularis propria (arrow) and into the perirectal fat, appearances correlating with the sonographic findings.
