Transportable Breast-Specific Gamma Camera
Dilon Technologies (www.dilon.com) has introduced a transportable version of its Dilon 6800 breast-specific gamma camera, the Dilon 6800 Access. Transportability allows access at centers such as small community hospitals that may not have high enough patient volumes to justify a full-time system. Gamma imaging is useful for diagnosis in women with dense breast tissue, multiple suspicious lesions or microcalcifications, implants, post-surgical masses or palpable lesions not detected by mammography or ultrasound, and in women taking hormone replacement therapy. The Dilon 6800 Access also aids treatment and surgery by helping determine the extent of the primary lesion, detecting occult secondary lesions and evaluating the axillary region for node status in breast cancer patients.

Elsevier introduces the Web-based Mosby's Imaging Suite (www.mosbysimagingsuite.com). The suite provides an online searchable edition of Merrill's Atlas of Radiographic Positioning and Procedures, education modules for technologists with access to up to 70 continuing education credits and an announcement system to create, post and update department protocols. The education component can be customized to build skills and conduct testing to any organization's requirements or the requirements of compliance and regulatory organizations, including the Joint Commission. The ability to build a comprehensive set of institution- and physician-specific protocols allows staff to verify protocols for any series of projections and procedures at any time.
