Robert R. Kuske, M.D., is a radiation oncologist at Arizona Oncology Services in Scottsdale. Until recently, he was a professor in the department of human oncology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine.

Board-certified in radiology, Dr. Kuske is a fellow and past president of the American Association for Cancer Education (AACE). He has authored or co-authored more than 250 published works including peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, textbook chapters and scientific papers and has served as an examiner for the oral boards in breast cancer for the American College of Radiology. Dr. Kuske is on the board of directors of the American Society of Breast Disease (ASBD) and is a member of the editorial boards of The Breast Journal and Brachytherapy.

Dr. Kuske is an internationally renowned expert in the treatment of breast cancer. He pioneered accelerated partial breast irradiation (APBI), a technique that allows women to be effectively treated in four to five days versus six and a half weeks for standard external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) following lumpectomy. Dr. Kuske is co-principal investigator of an upcoming Phase III clinical trial (sponsored by the National Cancer Institute through the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group) directly comparing APBI to EBRT. He was principal investigator for the first U.S. Phase I-II trial studying breast brachytherapy and a trial for the MammoSite brachytherapy device approved by the FDA in 2002.

Good Housekeeping magazine has twice named Dr. Kuske to its list of top cancer specialists in the United States (1992 and 1999) and he was named "Top Doc" by Madison Wisconsin Magazine in 2003.

Dr. Kuske's memberships include the Radiological Society of North America, the American Brachytherapy Society, the American Society of Breast Disease and the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology.

Dr. Kuske received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Ohio and a bachelor's degree in physics from Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Penn.
