Celebrating 25 Years of Funding Radiology's Future

Past R&E Foundation grant recipients repeatedly tell us how critical R&E funding was in jump-starting their career. With thorough “pilot” studies needed in order to win future NIH funding, previous grantees have called the R&E Foundation “a safe haven for research support.” On average, for every $1 given by the Foundation, our grantees go on to receive an additional $30 in funding. With this return on investment, the R&E Foundation has enabled over $850 million in radiologic research and education.

Today we can see the amazing results of the Foundation’s first grantees, and I know that the investment we are making now will produce significant results for tomorrow.

As radiological science continues at the cutting edge of medical diagnosis and treatment, it is critical that the Foundation increase the number of grants it funds each year.  Through increased grant funding, the Foundation will be in a position to fuel necessary “R&D” for the advancement of  radiology as a specialty.

The Silver Anniversary Campaign will commemorate the Foundation’s 25th anniversary in 2009.  The campaign goal is to raise $15 million for radiological research and education. With the theme, “Look forward… Give Back!” the Foundation is asking all stakeholders in the specialty to “look forward” to the discoveries that will fuel their practices and profession and improve diagnosis and treatments for patients and “give back” to fund future research and education.
