Fellowship Training Grant Deadline Date: January 10, 2009 Purpose: To provide specialty training to young physicians who are not yet professionally established in the radiologic sciences. Fellows will devote a minimum of 50% of their time to the approved training program under the guidance of a scientific advisor. Applicants may apply for funding 6 months or 18 months before the fellowship is scheduled to begin. Nature of Projects: Any specialty fellowship training program in the radiologic sciences. It is expected that fellows will receive some research exposure during the fellowship training period. Amount: $50,000 salary support for 1-year fellowship. Funds are intended to secure protected time for the recipient and may not be used for non-personnel expenses. Eligibility: - Applicant must be a resident or fellow in a department of radiology, radiation oncology, or nuclear medicine within a North American educational institution at the time of application.
- Applicant must hold an MD degree or equivalent.
- Applicant should be in the last year of, or have completed, the prescribed residency training and be certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or equivalent, or on track for certification. See the American Board of Radiology Website for details, TheABR.org.
- Applicant must not have been principal investigator on grant/contract amounts totaling $50,000 or more in a single calendar year. The restriction on prior funding includes support from single or combined grants or contracts from any source including government, private or industrial/commercial sources. RSNA Fellow/Fellowship Grants may be excluded from total.
- Applicant/co-principal investigator(s) must not be agents of any for-profit, commercial company in the radiologic sciences.
- Applicant may not submit more than one research or education grant application to the RSNA R&E Foundation per year.
- Acceptance of an award from another source for the same project is prohibited unless one source provides only salary support and the other source provides only support for non-personnel research expenses.
- Recipients may not have concurrent RSNA grants.
